Looking forward to the next blues jam. If we can get the same six guys together, that will be a success. Erick Blackwelder

I had a good time! There were some very good players there. Everybody was really nice. It would have been an even better jam if there were a drummer there and a "leader" to organize and run the jam.

There was a drummer....it was YOU!

Ha ha! Okay, ANOTHER drummer. :-)

Stuart, I agree with you about having an organizer or a leader. That would be nice. However, the jams I've played are spur of the moment events, with players tossing out a song to play.

I think an answer would be to gently encourage each participant to bring a song to contribute to the jam. This was my first jam at Nova Music, and I am preparing a few songs to add to the next jam.

Thanks for participating, and I hope to see you at the next jam.

The Friday jams run kinda like this as well. Everything is sort of spur of the moment. Sometimes it's a little tough to read hands and figure out where you are in the song if you have not played it before, but it does sharpen your ear!

I was thinking about coming for this. I'm new to the area and just learned about it. I play bass and drums, but want to really focus on bass.

What backline is provided? Would I need to bring a bass amp?

    If I make it, I will be late. Probably 7 - 7:30.

Cool. Thanks, Johnny. It looks like I will definitely be there. Unfortunately, probably late, though.

They usually have a bass amp there for the Friday acoustic jams, so you should be good. I'll see you all there.

Planning on finally making one of these, but I see Johnny's concern below...

I'm another guy in my 50's who played rock and roll guitar in high school and college bands. I set aside my guitar during the years we were raising our children. I picked up guitar again two years ago. I set aside my rock and roll, and made a commitment to learning the blues two years ago. I jam along with Clapton, Buddy Guy, and Joe Bonamassa on my stereo. I still have a lot to learn, but I'm enjoying it. Feels good to have my Strat and my Tele playing again. Erick

I showed up for the jam two weeks ago, and nobody else showed. Is the jam happening this week? Erick
