Inspiring VEG News!

From: Steve

Dear VEGphx Meetup Member,

The big news is that the Farm Animal Rights Movement's "10 Billion Lives Tour" is coming to Tempe! They will be visiting Arizona State University this week, February 13th-15th and 18th-19th, and they would greatly appreciate any help they can get from anyone willing to volunteer to this worthy cause.

Since launching in May 2012, thousands of young people have watched a video showing the undeniable, unconscionable truths of animal agriculture. But the Farm Animal Rights Movement doesn't measure their success just by the number of viewers alone. In fact, over 80% of these young viewers have made a pledge to eat more Vegan meals!

This ongoing success would not be possible without the dedicated help of local volunteers in every tour-stop city. Volunteers at an event can encourage more viewers by simply holding a sign; or by talking to people after they've watched the video, and inspiring them to put their compassion into action. Your spirits will soar and tears of joy will find their way to your eyes after you witness the moment of truth when a person decides they're going Vegan!

If you would like to volunteer, please email Ryan at: [address removed]

Visit the 10 Billion Lives Tour website at:

In other news, women in our group have been invited to take part in a national online research survey entitled, "Breastfeeding intentions and practices among the different vegetarian groups in the United States." The purpose of the survey is to examine and document the infant feeding intentions and practices of Vegetarian women in the United States as there is currently no such information or data on Vegetarian mothers. You must be 18 years of age or older and the survey takes less than 10 minutes to fill out. In completing this survey, your identity will be anonymous.

To participate, please visit:

And, as a reminder, any group member can schedule any social event, 24/7/365! You do this by going to the Meetup website homepage where it says "+ Suggest a New Meetup" (directly under where it says "Welcome, Phoenix VEG-friendly People") and start typing the details of your event. Besides the location, we need a specific date and a time for your suggestions to become actual group events. After you post your events I will announce them to the group in a timely fashion, and the events will promoted as regular group events.

Please keep in mind what else is going on with this group on (or near) the days you have in mind, as scheduling something near or around the same time as another group event will affect attendance at your event.

Thanks for your participation hosting events!
