Great job tonight Nick! And I love your idea if doing a "Rudiments" series. Also, I found the article about IIFEs and private variables by James Coglan (re: the conversation at the end there):

Interesting read. Coglan lays out pretty clearly that encapsulated state and bindable members are not friendly neighbors. This leads us even further in the direction of limited occurrence of state mutation. I still think there is a place for private members, just keep them pure and leave state-fullness to your public members.

I'd love to go, but I have to cancel because I'm on deadline. Hopefully next time!

The cap of 50 people was reached, and there are 10 people on the waiting list. If you are signed up to attend, but know now that you cannot make it tomorrow, please consider changing your RSVP to let those on the waiting list attend. Thank you!

I'll bow out. I know my rudiments, I just like hearing what people have to say.
