Speaker: Chris Frank

Chris will give us an introduction to AWS Amplify and Expo.
AWS Amplify makes it easy to create, configure, and implement scalable mobile and web apps powered by AWS. Amplify seamlessly provisions and manages your mobile backend and provides a simple framework to easily integrate your backend with your iOS, Android, Web, and React Native front ends.

In this workshop, we’ll start from scratch building a fully-featured cloud-enabled React Native iOS application implementing features like user sign-up & sign-in, a managed GraphQL API with user authorization & fine-grained access control, image storage, and we’ll host the app on AWS. We’ll also learn how to implement and interact with serverless functions.

Chris Frank is a JavaScript enthusiast and entrepreneur. He founded a start-up named iPointer while a research scientist at the National Center of Geographic Information and Analysis. iPointer was an augmented reality and mobile search company, developing location-based services and technologies for mobile users. Mr. Frank is an inventor of 8 of the 14 issued patents granted to iPointer. iPointer was acquired by Intel in March of 2015.

A 5-minute slot will be open at the beginning for anyone to talk about a conference or event they attended.
