  • Hike: Linvill and Chester Creek Trails (6 miles)
We will meet at Linvilla Orchards and hike the Linvill and Chester Creek Trails. There are restrooms at Linvilla Orchards. There is a Farm Market with lots of foods including ice cream, a bakery, and picnic benches. We start on the rustic Linville trail walking South to the Chester Creek trail. This trail was opened just last year. It is a paved, 10 foot wide, relatively flat trail with several bridges, nice views and hopefully still some colorful fall foliage. We will turn around at Lenni Road and come back the same way. DIRECTIONS: Linvilla Orchards is located between Route 352 and Route 452 south of Route 1. You can find directions from your home by searching linvilla.com. From Route 1 take Route 352 South, at the third traffic light (look for the big sign to Linvilla Orchards) turn right onto Knowlton Road, after 0.6 mi turn right onto Linville Road (at a sign for Hidden Hollow Swim Club), at the top of the hill turn left into Linvilla Orchards. Park on your left under the line of trees at a distance from the shops. Bring water and lunch if you plan to picnic. Leader: Christa Farnon, home phone:[masked], cell: on day of hike[masked]

  • Bird Walk: Hopewell Furnace NHS
Established in 1938, this 848-acre park is a beautiful mix of dense woodlands, open pastures, and edge habitat surrounding the historic Hopewell Village. Our walk will begin at the Visitor's Center and will consist of two loops; the first loop will be approximately 1 mile in length, traveling toward Hopewell Lake in adjacent French Creek State Park, and the second loop will cover about 2 miles into the Baptism Creek watershed of the Hopewell Big Woods. Join us for one or both loops. Bring binoculars and dress for the weather. Trails are unpaved but well-maintained. The terrain is mostly gently sloping, although there are a couple of short steep sections. A modern restroom is on site. Children and beginners are welcome. This is a joint walk with West Chester Bird Club. Note: The gates to the parking lot do not open until 9:15 a.m. https://www.nps.gov/hofu Leaders: Patty and John Werth,[masked] (home) or[masked] (cell), or [masked].
