VAG and coffee 2

Tuesday nights, admission is by donation at the VAG. We'll walk around and take in what's new, and then some of us will head out to get some coffee afterward and talk.

This will be very casual and we may or may not stick together as you choose. For some of us, we'll be focusing on the current exhibition: Grand Hotel (which ends soon).

~~~TIMING & WHAT TO EXPECT~~~
We will meet inside the gallery between 6:45 and 7pm.
First, come in and pay your donation and get your ticket, and then look for a circle of 10+ people waiting near the glass doors. That's us! I'll be on the lookout for you...
After we've gathered, at 7pm promptly, we'll enter the gallery exhibit on the main floor together.
This will NOT be a guided tour. We will NOT attempt to keep the group together while we explore the gallery. So, take time at the beginning to make some new friends to hang with.
Afterward, we will meet on the main floor by the coat-check between 8:20 and 8:30pm. Some of us will go home, and others will head off for a coffee/tea.
Bring umbrellas if it's raining to walk to a coffee place.
If you are late... you'll be ON YOUR OWN but you can hook up with the group when we meet again at 8:20pm.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Trish :)
    When will the next Meetup be taking place? I enjoyed the VAG show so much, I'm looking forward to our next adventure! ...Would anyone be interested in meeting me at the Ferry Building Art Gallery on the seawall in West Vancouver next Tuesday evening, October 22nd from 6-8pm? If you don't have an undying need for your car, you can take any West Van bus from in front of The Bay and it will take you to 14th & Marine. The Ferry Building is just half a block down. One very special part of the evening is that they have really nice snacks and they also serve wine. The snacks are free and the wine is usually only about $3-$4. There are a lot of coffee shops close by for an "after chat". If anyone is interested, please let me know. Thank you.
      Marie, thanks for that driving tip...it is challenging in the Greater Vancouver for a girl from laid back South Florida & not yet totally familiar with the local geography (esp with "Guerilla" cyclists & pedestrians)...;-)
      If you live near the #255 bus line and want a "tour" of the North Shore, it will take you all the way from North Vancouver to West Vancouver and drop you off half a block from the Ferry Building at 14th & Marine. There's a 7-eleven on the North side and a Vancity of the South side. I don't have a car so I'll be bussing it. (P.S. If you do decide to drive...try not to run over any cyclists or pedestrians, especially in West Vancouver! Their Mommies & Daddies can afford REALLY EXPENSIVE lawyers!! HA! HA! HA!)
    Oh My God wouldn't that have made great fodder for a documentary!!! I missed the group at the start but was able to catch up for night caps at the end. The suggestion posted regarding a night cap at the Fairmont Hotel would have been PERFECT! None the less I really enjoyed the night spent with the small group of people who joined in for a bevy at the pub across the street. I particularly enjoyed meeting Alexandra who was visiting here from Paris, such an all around impressive person. And of course the reunion with my very dear old friend from Emily Carr, the Mighty Quinn. Such fun & lively conversation from all there.
      Ooops, didn't mean to exit that chat quite yet; i wanted to ask you (Alexandra) if my friend Drew ever got in touch with you in Paris???
    Hello...It took me a while to connect again with the meet up. It was a lovely evening at the Art Gallery. I love the exhibition about Hotels, history and architecture. As well, I was only able to catch at the end of the exhibition. It was nice to get a chance to talk with some people of the group. And I had a great time with a small group after too! Great conversations!
    Trish...I echo your comments. The exhibit was very "dense"...too much stimuli for both group discussion & absorbing all the details of the Grand Hotel Exhibit. I just wish we had carried on the theme, and repaired to the Fairmont Hotel for a night cap ;-)
    Loved the Grand Hotel... so glad we went. The best part for me was being immersed in contemplation and then see some familiar faces from the group, and have a nice chat and then look around some more and see another friendly face, another chat and so on. So good to see you all and hope to get together again soon! :)
    Hi everyone! Well, there are 19 of us and I'm excited to see everyone. :)
    Please remember to *pay your donation at the ticket booth when you arrive* and then move toward the big windows across the lobby from the ticket booth to chat and wait for the others.
    We'll wait 15 minutes for everyone to get their tickets paid (it will be really busy), and then move into the Gallery for our little walkabout at 7pm.
    Those interested will gather again in the lobby at 8:20, and wait 10 minutes. Some of us will say cheer-io, and others will decide to go for coffee/tea.
    I thought the suggested donation prescribed by the gallery is $10?
      Thanks Carissa. No worries.
      Is there now a minimum 'donation' required? The last time I attended I offered 50 cents and the clerk angrily told me to keep the money.
    This is great Trish. Thanks! I have wanted to take in this exhibit before it closed so this is great timing. Look forward to catching up with you and meeting new friends.
    I love all forms of art and became especially entusiastic about oils, watercolours, textile art, etc. when I lived in west Vancouver. I use to go to the Ferry Building Art Gallery on a regular basis, to see the amazing variety of art forms by North Shore artists. Perhaps we could go to one of their future shows?
