I will kick off the evening with a talk on "Microservices: Five Years In". This talk will contrast the principles and practices of microservice architecture when the name was coined in 2014 with the current state.

Abstract: Implementing a microservices architecture pattern could be a big undertake taking several years. It could be useful to know what to expect from implementing a microservices architecture as it might involve organizational and software development lifecycle adjustments. The presentation draws from the experience of working on a large software product containing dozens of microservices. The presentation describes how the choice of a microservices architecture pattern affects all phases of a software development lifecycle.
Bio: Alexei Potiagalov has over 20 years of software development and architecture experience. Alexei has been working at SAP for the last 13 years on several business intelligence products. Currently, Alexei is a software architect with Infrastructure team of SAP Analytics Cloud.
