One of the primary ways we do this is by cultivating the Planted Community Food Network, which provides nutritious food in ways that foster community, contribute to a sustainable local food system, and build on the strengths of the poor. www.cglf.ca (http://www.cglf.ca/) Just Work Economic Initiative Physical disabilities, mental illness, homelessness and addictions are barriers to finding appropriate, steady employment. Persons facing such barriers are often marked as unemployable. JustWork fosters dignified, gainful work opportunities for persons with these challenges through three social enterprises; JustPotters, JustCatering and JustRenos. www.justwork.ca (http://www.justwork.ca/) Kinbrace Kinbrace is BC’s longest-serving housing provider for refugee claimants, offering dedicated support and accessible educational resources across Canada. For more information and stories check out their annual report. www.kinbrace.ca (http://www.kinbrace.ca/) Mothers Offering Mentorship and Support (MOMS) MOMS welcomes vulnerable mothers with friendship, understanding and prayer shared in the context of a loving community. Mentorship and compassion develop lasting, long term relationships. Qualified caregivers provide children with a balance of free and structured play, while mothers gather to participate in workshops about parenting, health, finances, and the creative arts. Moms (https://www.gcbchurch.ca/presence/moms--10) Crossroads Community Meal For almost 17 years, Grandview Calvary Baptist Church has reached out to the surrounding community, to offer friendship and a place to gather around a shared dining table in the church hall. This “more-than-a-soup-kitchen” model seeks to value the contribution of everyone who comes and participates in a chore or provides a modest donation of $2. No matter your means or ability, we welcome everyone to participate somehow. Crossroads Community Meal (https://www.gcbchurch.ca/presence/crossroads) Vancouver Crisis Pregnancy Centre The Crisis Pregnancy Centre of Vancouver offers practical help and encouragement to individuals facing an unplanned pregnancy or experiencing post abortion concerns. The centre is staffed by trained volunteers under the supervision of a program director. www.optionscentre.ca (http://optionscentre.ca/) Granville Chapel Community Meal Granville Chapel and a couple Vancouver parks are the backdrop to a monthly mealheld on the 3rd Monday from 5:30pm - 8:00pm. It started as a way for us to get to know some of the diverse families from a local non-profit organization, and for them to find mutual support with each other. That is happening which is fantastic, and the lovely thing is that as we come together as diverse families and individuals we all find mutual support and friendship. We wash, chop, set tables, play and do crafts for the first hour and dinner is ready to serve and devour at 6:30. As we chat together and play with the children we are becoming a family, always ready to welcome new members. The meal is held at Granville Chapel between September and April, and then we convene at either of two parks for the summer, as weather permits. Three of our goals are 1) to make the meal together, 2) have a simple craft, with supervision, ready for the children 3) allow the parents especially to enjoy a slow meal and conversation. To that end we are always happy to hear from volunteers who could help with meal prep, craft, or washing the dishes.

    What we're about

This group is dedicated to the night owls and will be mostly about nighttime photography. Long exposures, cityscapes, street scenes, light trails, sunsets, moons and stars, maybe even some steel wool spinning. There will also be a few evening shoots.
