Join us for our seventh annual veggie group summer camping trip. I reserved a large campsite at Yellowstone State Park in Blanchardville (about 45 miles southwest of Madison). This is the same site as the last four trips because of the lack of mosquitos -- plus, it's a very nice place.
It's a beautiful area where we can hike, bike, swim, and boat (as well as relax). A variety of boats are available to rent: paddle boats, canoes, kayaks, and rowboats. The rental fees range from $7 to $12 per hour, with discounts for larger blocks of time.
Food and drink will be provided... Lunch and dinner on Saturday, breakfast on Sunday, and plenty of snacks. Everything will be vegan.
Arrive Saturday. Leave Sunday.
Includes campsite fee, lunch & dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. Maximum of 50 people.
Adults & Kids 10+ $21.00
Kids 5-9 $14.00
Kids 4 and Under $7.00
Arrive Saturday. Leave Saturday.
Includes lunch & dinner on Saturday. No limit to the number of day trippers.
Adults & Kids 10+ $14.00
Kids 5-9 $8.00
Kids 4 and Under $2.00
Arrive Friday. Leave Sunday.
Includes campsite fee for 2 nights, lunch & dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. Maximum of 50 people.
In the past, a number of people have reserved a separate campsite for Friday and then moved to our group site on Saturday. This time, I reserved the group site on Friday so people could camp an extra day without having to move their gear.
Adults & Kids 10+ $25.00
Kids 5-9 $18.00
Kids 4 and Under $11.00
Please note the following in the comments of your RSVP:
* Saturday Day Trip, Saturday Overnight, or Friday-Sunday.
* Number of campers in your party and the ages of any kids.
* Whether you will be bringing a pet (see below).
* If you are willing to take the lead on one of the meals or if you are willing to assist (see below).
* If you have a grill, camping stove, or other cooking gear we can use.
In previous years, there have been some people who preferred to bring their own food. Let me know if you won't be having any of the food or snacks that are supplied and I'll get you information on the discounted event fees.
Watch the video from a previous trip. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIAIymE1kdY)
Each meal will have a volunteer leader who will plan the meal and prepare it with help from other campers. If you are willing to take on this role for one of the meals, please contact me (http://www.meetup.com/VegMadison/message/?recipientId=2053494) and I will help coordinate.

What is included in the event fee?
Food (see above).
What is not included in the event fee?
State Park sticker (see note below).
Camping equipment (tent, sleeping bag, firewood, etc.).
Camping equipment can be rented from REI (http://www.rei.com/stores/48), 7483 West Towne Way (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=7483+West+Towne+Way,+Madison,+WI), Madison,[masked].
What about kids?
Kids of all ages are welcome. See fee information above for details.
Pre-payment is required to RSVP (see exception below). Meetup.com automates this process when you pay via PayPal. If you want to pay by check, contact me (http://www.meetup.com/VegMadison/message/?recipientId=2053494) and I will give you my mailing address. I will manually update your RSVP as soon as I receive your request, but since our events fill up quickly, out of fairness to other group members I will remove the RSVP if the check is not received within four business days.
Special honor system exception: If you have been in the group for a while and have a history of attending and paying for events without any problems you can contact me (http://www.meetup.com/VegMadison/message/?recipientId=2053494) about paying me at the event. This accommodation is provided as a convenience -- you are still responsible for paying even if you do not attend.
Important Note: I will manually update the RSVPs of people who pay by check or use the honor system, but it's possible the event will fill up before I check my email. If that happens I will add you to the waiting list.
The fee includes a little extra to cover PayPal's fees (http://paypalfeecalculator.paymentprocessing.cc) as well as Meetup.com's $144 annual cost (http://www.meetup.com/help/organize/#org_cost).
If you cancel on or before Wednesday, July 2nd you will get a full refund. There are no refunds for cancellations after the deadline or if you do not show up to the event. If something comes up at the last minute you are welcome to find someone else to attend instead of you. The reason refunds are not given after the deadline is that we are purchasing food based on the number of people who have paid me at that point.
Can I bring my pet?
Yes. Dogs and other pets are allowed. Pets must be on a leash no longer than 8 ft and under control at all times. Pets are not allowed in buildings, picnic areas or on beaches or nature trails. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. Pets may not be left unattended at any time. Complete rules about pets are on the DNR's website (http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/parks/rules/pets.html). Please read all the rules about pets before deciding to bring a pet along.
What if it rains?
We'll be there rain or shine.
How long can I be at the park?
We have the campsite reserved from 3:00 pm on Friday until 3:00 pm on Sunday. The park is closed to non-campers between 11:00 pm and 6:00 am. So, if you want to maximize your time at the park you can arrive at 6:00 am on Friday and leave at 11:00 pm on Sunday.
Do I need to buy a state park sticker for my car? Will anyone be carpooling?
All cars that enter the park must have a state park sticker, which covers all Wisconsin state parks. The cost is $7.00 for a day pass or $25.00 per year. A single day pass is all that's necessary for camping overnight. You can buy the sticker when you arrive at the park. Before the event I will contact all campers to coordinate the driving.
