• October Vegan Dinner: Adamah Neighborhood Table
We have another fabulous menu to enjoy at Adamah Neighborhood Table (last visited in May 2018). Chef Jason Kierce has created an innovative sampling of a HUGE variety of TASTY foods. This dinner will be served buffet style and there will be samplings of a very large selection of items. None of these items will be served in a full portion. You don't need to make any decisions because you can try everything! There will be plenty of food and you will leave satisfied! SAVORY: Fried Green Tomato Sliders (Multigrain Bun, Fried Green Tomato, Spicy Russian Dressing, Red Onion, Shaved Lettuce) Big Maccabee Impossible Burger Sliders (Multigrain Bun, Impossible Burger, Russian Dressing, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion) Ain’t No Pretzel Back Girl Sliders (Pretzel Bun, Jalapeno Mango BBQ Seitan, Carolina Slaw, Pickled Peppers, Tomato) Spiced Fava Bean Sandwiches (Ciabatta Bread, Spiced Fava Beans, Raita Sauce, Shaved Radish) Vegan Challah (Traditional Jewish Bread) Shakshuka w/ Tofu Eggs (Dinnertime "Egg" Dish) Sweet Potato Hash w/ Tofu Eggs Israeli Salad Sweet Potato Salad Carolina Slaw DESSERT: Chocolate Chip Cookies, Banana Bread, Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins, Blueberry Muffins, Chocolate Cupcakes DRINKS: Mint Lemonade, Cucumber Water, Coffee and Hot Tea Please note: no items on the menu are GF at this moment. If you want GF food, please private message Dove after RSVPing. A vegan GF meal will be prepared for you, however we will not know until the event what your menu will be (it will be a surprise). Chef Kierce will make those decisions once he knows how many diners he'll be preparing GF food for. Fee Disclosure: The $15.00 fee includes everything mentioned above. That covers the meal, plus tax, tip, and a little to cover the meetup.com and PayPal fees. RSVP on this event page for the total number attending and include all children, except those who just nibble off your plate. Pay using PayPal. If you have any difficulty adding the number of guests that you desire, simply private message Dove and she'll assist you. What about kids? Kids are welcome and pay full price. However, young children who will only nibble off of your plate can attend at no cost. Important: RSVP/Payment Information You must pay when you RSVP (not at a later date). If your RSVP is not accompanied by a payment within 2 days of your RSVP (and no later than 5:00 pm on 10/18/18), your RSVP may be removed by the organizers. Refund Policy: If you cancel on or before 10/18/18 by 5:00 pm, you will get a full refund. There are no refunds for cancellations after the deadline or if you do not show up to the event. If something comes up at the last minute you are welcome to find someone else to attend instead of you. The reason refunds are not given after the deadline is that Phil agrees to pay for everyone who has signed up at that point.

  • Madison Vegan Fest
This post is not about an actual meeting. There is no need to RSVP. We are not meeting up together for this event. This post is to let you know about a great opportunity this Saturday. A group of committed community volunteers have put together a fantastic event to showcase and share all the many ways veganism can impact your life and how easy it can be! The event is free, parking is free, and it is open to the public. There will be presenters, exhibitors (there will be a variety of items for sale, in addition to great information), a food court (costs involved with any food you order) and information booths. This event is kid friendly, family friendly, single friendly, and just plain old friendly to everyone from all walks of life. Everyone is welcome at Vegan Fest! Come on down! Bring your friends, your family, your neighbors, your coworkers, and anyone else who wants to have a great time and enjoy tasty food! For more information: madisonveganfest.org Feel free to use the messaging system for this post to arrange car pooling or shared rides. I/this Meetup group won't be participating in the ride arrangement process, but you are welcome to use this forum for that purpose, among yourselves.

  • August Vegan Dinner: Buraka
In August we'll be meeting at Buraka on Willy Street. They serve delicious Ethiopian cuisine. From their website: Ethiopian cuisine is best known for its rich and exotic mix of spices, such as berbere, garlic, cardamom, ginger, cumin, coriander and curry powder. If the weather is good, we'll be able to eat outside, on their beautiful patio (which is behind the restaurant and down a flight of stairs/no elevator). If the weather does not cooperate, we'll be dining inside. Please note: the entrees and injera are gf, and at this time it appears the rice is not. MENU (served buffet style): Salad Entrees (4): Vegetarian Peanut Stew – fresh cauliflower, carrots & potatoes in a mild peanut sauce Misirwot – a vegetarian dish with split lentils and potatoes in a spicy tomato sauce Alicha – mild yellow curry sauce with cabbage, carrots & potato Black beans - special rich dish made with black beans and potatoes, in a thick spicy red sauce Sides (2): Rice Injera (For those unfamiliar, this is a sourdough-risen flatbread with a slightly spongy texture. At Buraka, it is made out of teff flour.) All beverages, other than water, are available on a cash basis. What about kids? Kids are welcome and pay full price.
