The Veg Society of DC (http://www.vsdc.org) is excited to organize a talk by Will Tuttle, Ph.D. (http://www.worldpeacediet.com) with lunch at the new, all-vegan Pianta at the New Deal Cafe (http://www.newdealcafe.com/food/dinner-menu) in Greenbelt MD!
Dr. Tuttle will deliver an inspirational talk entitled "Healing Our World: A Deeper Look at Food", based on his award-winning book, The World Peace Diet - Eating for Spiritual Health and Social Harmony. He will discuss how food affects us physically, culturally, and spiritually, and how to make positive changes that promote wellness, encourage wisdom and abundance, and minimize our eco-footprints on the earth. The talk places a fundamental emphasis on a vegan way of living and will be followed by a short Q&A.
This event will be held at Pianta at the New Deal Cafe, in Greenbelt MD, which serves an accessible, plant-based, Italian-American menu that nurtures the environment, animals, and our health. They also have desserts from Vegan Treats. Pianta at the New Deal Cafe is managed by our wonderful friends at DC Vegan Catering (http://www.dc-vegan.com) so come out and show them your support!
(Free parking is available in the lot just outside and around the shopping center - please read and follow all parking signs. The location is metro accessible with bus connections.)
Please plan to have lunch at Pianta since they are kindly providing the space without additional charge. It is a 'pay on your own' event directly to the restaurant and they accept major credit cards. Please keep your RSVP current since VSDC is reserving space and wishes to accommodate people on a waitlist.
**Arrive at 1130 am to get seated and order food. The event will start at noon and finish around 130 pm.** Attendees can mingle more after the talk has concluded.
The World Peace Diet, which became a #1 Amazon best-seller in 2010, offers a compelling and liberating new understanding of our food and our culture. It has been called one of the most important books of the 21st century: the foundation of a new society based on the truth of the interconnectedness of all life. It is the first book to make explicit the invisible connections between our culture, our food, and the source of our broad range of problems—and the way to a positive transformation in our individual and collective lives. It has now been translated and published in over a dozen languages.
Signed copies of The World Peace Diet (http://www.worldpeacediet.com/) will be available for purchase at a discounted price. Donations to support Dr. Tuttle's work will be accepted at the event.

Please join the Vegetarian Society of DC Book Club discussion of "Less" by Andrew Sean Greer, winner of the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in Fiction.
Washington Post: “a writer named Arthur Less is depressed about turning 49. His anxiety about aging has been exacerbated by news that his former boyfriend is about to get married to a younger man. . . . Less decides to send his regrets and flee. . . . a different country for each chapter.”
To participate you must read at least half the book -- and RSVP at least two days before the meeting.
This meeting takes place upstairs at Chaia (http://www.chaiadc.com/#locations), an all-vegetarian and vegan-friendly "farm-to-taco" fast casual restaurant in Georgetown. Please allow time to find parking and to order your food and bring it upstairs.
The VSDC Book Club usually meets in vegetarian restaurants in DC or nearby Maryland or Virginia. We read fiction and nonfiction in alternating months, about any topic. For more information (including everything we have read over 26 years!) visit http://www.vsdc.org/book.html or contact Beth (http://www.meetup.com/vegan-28/message/?recipientId=1642817) through meet up.
Don't be a no show! If your plans change, update your RSVP.
