We're excited and expect a great turnout! The DC VegFest will be an extraordinary event to celebrate and learn about the enormous benefits of a vegetarian diet and lifestyle. The Vegetarian Society of DC and our good friends at Compassion Over Killing are extremely pleased to organize the DC VegFest on Saturday, September 12, 2009. Join us at 12 noon and spend the afternoon enjoying spectacular vegan food from food vendors, food preparation demos (and light sampling), excellent speakers, exhibitors, and fun activities at the University Yard on the campus of George Washington University in NW DC. It is a rain or shine event.
Confirmed presenters include: Rory Freedman (author of Skinny Bitch and other books), Wendy Rieger (NBC4 News Anchor), Dr. Michael Greger (author and physician), Tracye McQuirter (author and public health nutritionist), Kenneth Williams (vegan bodybuilder), Jamie Raskin (MD State Senator), and Mimi Clark (chef and instructor).
The DC VegFest is free and open to the public. This is the perfect place to bring your not-yet-vegetarian family and friends so they can learn to improve their own health, the health of the planet, and show respect / compassion for animals - all on a beautiful day with many hundreds of people. All food and items for sale will be vegan. Many vendors will have unique, veg-oriented items for sale and non-profit groups will have educational materials and information about their worthy activities.

Many volunteers are needed on the day itself. We really need your help!
Additionally, publicity / getting as many people as possible to the event are priorities. See how you can help (including printing out flyers and posters) at: www.dcvegfest.com/takeaction
