Worldwide March Against Monsanto!

On May 25, people around the world will unite to March Against Monsanto.  Cities in South America, Europe, Asia, just about everywhere are participating in this event.  Over 1,500 have signed up in Denver alone.

https://www.facebook.com/events/228808343928822/

Why march?

Research studies have shown that Monsanto’s genetically-modified foods can lead to serious health conditions such as the development of cancer tumors, infertility and birth defects.
...
In the United States, the FDA, the agency tasked with ensuring food safety for the population, is steered by ex-Monsanto executives, and we feel that’s a questionable conflict of interests and explains the lack of government-lead research on the long-term effects of GMO products.

Recently, the U.S. Congress and president collectively passed the nicknamed “Monsanto Protection Act” that, among other things, bans courts from halting the sale of Monsanto’s genetically-modified seeds.

For too long, Monsanto has been the benefactor of corporate subsidies and political favoritism. Organic and small farmers suffer losses while Monsanto continues to forge its monopoly over the world’s food supply.

Monsanto's GMO seeds are harmful to the environment; for example, scientists have indicated they have caused colony collapse among the world's bee population.

Great turnout, lot and lots of people, good speakers! Didnt see many of my fellow AANers however it was a big place. Glad it was so well attended. BTW we were at Barnes and Nobel a little before 11 and stayed a while waiting for our group, after a few minutes, saw no one and headed OVER TO THE CAPITOL BUILDING.

    Are there signs/posters/ leaflets available?

    May 21, 2013

If there are, they would be supplied by the March Against Monstanto organizers. No need to bring any. I am not sure if we will actually be marching. They have a day of speakers scheduled outside the capitol.

If anybody wants to learn more about gmo's, here's a 17 minute trailer from Jeffrey Smith's movie Genetic Roulette:

I wish I could attend this, but I'll be working the Vegan Life Colorado booth at Boulder Creek Fest. To all who attend, please make follow up comments and take photos to share on here so the rest of us can hear and see how it went. Thank you! I hope it's a beautiful day!
