How did you hear about "Vegan Life Colorado" meetup group?

The internet

What draws you to a vegan group? (answer as simply or as detailed as you like)

Pats triglycerides, cholesterol and sugar numbers were pretty high. We thought we were eating well. We were eating the Standard American Diet (SAD, the acronym says it all). Lean meats, fruits, olive oil, veggies and low calorie prepackaged foods. We couldn't understand why his numbers were so high and we couldn't lose weight. So I went on a quest to find out and realized we were making ourselves fat and ill. We have since eliminated all animal products, processed/refined foods, refined sugars and most oils from our diets. His numbers have improved greatly and we feel great. He occasionally falls off the wagon and has some chips or a piece of meat and my addiction is sugar. We are currently working on "not" falling of the wagon. I have found my passion. I plan to get my whole plant certification so that I can give some classes on whole plant nutrition and also give some cooking classes. It's been quite a learning process.

What kind of activities would you like to see the group participate in, if you have anything specific you would like to do (note that our members are welcome to suggest and schedule vegan friendly events for consideration by our organizers)?

Potlucks, dinners, visits to farm animal rescues, light hiking and or outdoor activities.

NOTE: We only require a "YES" RSVP if you plan to attend a gathering. Please don't RSVP "NO" to gatherings you don't plan to attend. "NO" RSVPs only create email for organizers. Only RSVP "NO" when you need to cancel a "YES". Make sense? Thanks!

We changed to vegan in 2010. We look forward to meeting up with people that are like minded and won't ask us where we get our protein!
