105 E. South St., Raleigh, NC
This is our biggest and most important event of the year! Join us as we show North Carolina that *everyone* is deserving of love, kindness, compassion and justice - regardless of species!
This will be the second year we participate in the “Mass Moral March” in downtown Raleigh. Organized by the NAACP and supported by a coalition of over 200 progressive groups, this annual event draws upwards of 10,000 people.
Last year, we had over 50 vegans participate. This year we’re organizing early to ensure an even bigger turnout. People from all over NC will be joining us.
We'll meet in the McDonald's parking lot at 105 E. South St. at 8:30 a.m. Pre-rally begins at 9:00 a.m. The actual march begins at 10:00 a.m and should conclude by 12:30. Afterward, we'll meet for lunch (location TBD). We'll have our famous soy BBQ sandwiches, chips and any other goodies people might bring.
This event offers us a unique opportunity to stand in solidarity with others who are fighting for basic human rights and environmental justice. At the same time, we can educate others about the plight of nonhuman animals and the devastating environmental impacts of animal agriculture.
We'll carry our banner, wave flags and hold signs with peaceful messages expressing love, compassion and respect for all living beings. In order to have a unified presence, we will be offering discounted Vegans for Peace t-shirts. Signs will be provided - see pictures below from last year's event. You are welcome to bring your own sign, but please keep the message positive/factual so as to not cast shame. We prefer to have a unified presence under the banner of Vegans for Peace.
Last year was a truly exciting and memorable event that helped mobilize our community. Together, we can make this event even bigger as we show NC the beauty and promise of veganism!

If you would like to help organize, please let us know in the comments. We need volunteers to help with promotion, photography, video, directing participants/selling t-shirts at the event and somone to help secure a downtown location for lunch afterward.
If you are in need of a ride or a place to stay, please let us know. There is a carpool thread on the Facebook event page (link below). We will do our very best to help everyone make it.
We are also seeking donations to cover the cost of durable signs. Unfortunately, the ones from last year did not hold up. We estimate professional signs will cost $200 - $300. Any amount is greatly appreciated: http://www.veganchalkchallenge.org/donate
Thank you so much for your support over this past year. We are so excited by the growth of our community. More and more, we are coming together as a unified voice for those whose voices have been silenced.
If you're on Facebook, please sign up there and invite as many friends as you can. https://www.facebook.com/events/1268991893167591/
Let's continue to inspire and support one another as we work to lay the foundation for a peaceful, nonviolent word!
