Thanks for the response JD! We are going beyond setting up a WordPress site (that is the first topic covered of seven topics). Here are the topics being covered from 2pm - 5pm on Saturday, June 15:

    Topics Covered:

    1) Installing WordPress using your hosting account to create your web site (we will utilize GoDaddy as an example)
    2) WordPress Navigation Basics – Creating Pages, Posts, and Links
    3) Selecting themes to create the feel and look for your web site brand
    4) Learning how to utilize Widgets
    5) Installing images & graphics
    6) WordPress Plugins – Make your site dynamic with the power of Plugins
    7) Learning how to accept credit cards on your web site via PayPal

Like WordPress, utilizing Joomla as a CMS and setting up and building a web site depends on the complexity of what you want to build. This Company that specializes in Joomla claims that it is approximately four weeks or more:

Just to be clear the company you linked to says that is how long they as a company takes, not how long Joomla takes "Four weeks is the approximate development time that Hubumedia offers our clients."
I work with both WordPress and Joomla and I could just as easily find a Wordpress developers who say they take that long or longer, which has little to do with Wordpress.

Thanks for the conversation JD. My expertise is in WordPress. I gave you a possible Joomla resource to be nice, helpful, and help foster a healthy tech community. Development on any CMS depends on the exact features that are being implemented and the skill set of the developer.

Sounds good Theodore! I have received very positive evaluations and overall feedback about the seminar at UNLV this past Saturday! I have also had others ask about when the next one would be. We are looking for the next one to be in August at UNLV. I will update you when we have chosen an exact date.

3 hours seems like a long time just to set up a WordPress website. How long would you guess it would take to setup a Joomla website?
