11011 W. Charleston Blvd., Las Vegas, NV
This is one of the most spectacular hikes in Red Rock. We will drive the 13-mile loop to the Pine Creek trail head. We hike across the desert until dropping into the south fork of Pine Creek. From there it is miles of boulder scrambling. The 1,500' of elevation gain is gradual but this is a strenuous hike due to the sheer distance of scrambling and the size of the boulders. The destination is dramatic and I am not including pictures because it must be experienced in person. At the end of the hike you will be exhausted but I promise the effort is worth it!
HIKE QUICK STATS:
Distance: 7 miles
Elevation Gain: 1,500 feet
Duration: 7 hours
The primary focus of this series is moderate-level scrambling. If you are interested in exploring the Calico Hills and Red Rock Canyon, and you enjoy "playing" on the rocks then add your name to the Wait List. Due to the Group size limit of 15 for inner areas, priority will be given to those who have attended any of the Red Rock, Mt Charleston or Lake Mead "series" hikes in the past regardless of position on the Wait List. If I don't know you, be sure to fill out your Profile so I can see what your experience level is. This Series is not for beginners. You should have a reasonable level of fitness and some scrambling experience.
Directions: from Hwy 215, take the exit for W Charleston Blvd and go east to the Red Rock Hotel & Casino. We will meet in the northwest garage (visible from Hwy 215) on the 4th floor section 4D and form carpools for the drive to Pine Creek. If you have a Red Rock park pass, please bring it along with photo ID.
