Lazy M Route

  • 3 days ago · 8:30 AM

This hike is open only to those people who have done any of my Tier 5 hikes with me.  Sign up is through the wait list only.

This hike is a Black Tier/Tier 5 hike on my Scrambling Tiers list.

Helmets are always welcome.  Be sure to use one that doesn't block your sight.

Always carry "in case of emergency" numbers with you.

This route features many new obstacles and a lot of steep spots, including the "ramp."  It's so steep, some climbers thought it needed bolts.  The route also features the "grinder" slot with an exit so narrow that it will grind you down.  Both features are in well-known and well-traveled areas.  I created this route from my own explorations.

The beginning of the hike has many steep obstacles that will get your heart pumping.  There is some up and down along the way to the "ramp" and then we'll head past a couple of well-known obstacles.  There is a steep down climb that leads right to the "grinder."  I'll have a couple of alternate routes for those who don't want to be ground.  After the grinder we'll pass another "not-so-secret-anymore" slot and head down again.  From there we'll wind our way back to the beginning through a few more slots.  We'll finish off with the "slope john G."

As stated, this route goes through some popular areas.  But it also goes through some areas that aren't well-traveled at all.  You can visit some not so familiar terrain and see formations that you haven't seen before.  We'll keep an eye out for the wildlife that we always feel lucky to see.  I've seen a few animals in these areas, so I remain hopeful.  Check out my wildlife gallery for some of my favorite pictures of animals I've seen.

Not for beginners or those afraid of heights. There are many places that require advanced scrambling skills and there is some exposure.  You must be able to pull your body weight up and lower yourself down using your arms.

No guests on this hike.
