Helmets are always welcome. Be sure to use one that doesn't block your sight.

Always carry "in case of emergency" numbers with you.

This hike is considered a Class 3 scramble as it requires the use of hand and footholds to climb the rocks. Expect some exposure.

For our initial ascent, we'll meander up a craggy channel to the left of Ash Canyon. The climb will get your heart pumping. We'll stop halfway up to check the time, our energy levels, and take GPS coordinates of some rather gaudy graffiti, then continue along the regular route (the large sandy area below Britt's Loop). You'll squeeze through a crack in the rocks and use your arms to pull yourself up a boulder or two, along with other obstacles.

When hitting the final descent we have many options. Be prepared to use your arms and sticky soled boots as we climb up and down the cracks, there will be a least one.

Not for beginners or those afraid of heights. There are some places that require intermediate scrambling skills and there is some exposure. You must be able to pull your body weight up and lower yourself down using your arms.

No guests will be allowed without my prior approval.

YOU MUST BE ON THE "GOING" LIST IN ORDER TO GO ON THIS HIKE. CRASHING WILL NOT BE ALLOWED.

We'll meet at the Kraft Mountain Trailhead. To get there go west on Charleston towards the park. The turn to Calico basin is about 2 miles before the park entrance. Turn right and follow the road to the end of the payment & the Kraft Mtn parking lot.
