Wekiwa Springs State Park

Enjoy a day of kayaking/canoeing, picnicking, games, hiking, and swimming in the springs!

Bring your own food, drinks, and sheets for the picnic. Waterproof bags (i.e. ziplocs) are good to bring to keep things dry.

As people arrive at the park they should meet at the rental concession. We will kayak/canoe down the Wekiva River for an hour or so, have a picnic on dry ground, and then head back downstream to the springs. Then we can go swimming, hike, and play games.

$6.00 per vehicle (2-8 persons)
$4.00 per vehicle (1 person)

Single kayak or canoe: $16.00 up to 2 hours, $3.00 each additional hour
Double kayak: $22.00 up to 2 hours, $3.00 each additional hour
Drivers license required for each rental.
You may launch your own kayak or canoe for free (except for admission).

Directions to Wekiwa Springs State Park: From Interstate 4, take Exit 94 onto State Road 434 west (left if coming from the south). After about 1 mile, turn right (north) onto Wekiwa Springs Road and proceed about 4 miles to the park entrance, which will be on the right.

We will arrange for carpooling and will update with information closer to the event. If you have any questions or need to change your RSVP (especially the day before or day of), call Larry at[masked]

I appreciate your sense of humor and knew you were kidding, Ross! Dont worry everyone, Ross is not a pompous jerk.

Could everyone who wants to carpool indicate that in their RSVP? If you're comfortable doing so, you could list an approximate location, too (ie "NE Orlando", or "Bumby & Colonial" or "Colonialtown").

Any updates on the carpooling issue?

This sounds like a great day at the springs! The weather is a little cooler, and hopefully, not raining. I have never been to a Veg CF meetup, although I have attempted in the past. I look forward to meeting many of you.

Cassandra, you can kayak as long as you have a life vest on. I've taken non-swimmers on short canoe trips before. As long as you're comfortable with water, you'll be fine.
