  • Jun 16, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • The SkyLounge

This is a closed subgroup is for the SF/Fantasy novel writers.

Please remember that others must have time to read your work so we ask that all pieces be made available (such as posted on the Meet Up boards or directly emailed to group members) ... at least a week in advance.

Thanks and looking forward to seeing you all there!

Pieces (so far) for this session are:

• "Northlander" by Deborah ... "Icelander chap 3.docx" in Files section.

PS: Subgroup membership is limited purely for practical reasons of time, but observers are welcome. And if you want to be in a critique group then please contact the management ... if we get enough requests we'll create another subgroup.

The start of the story, with the bit about WVB made me feel like the character had let me in himself. This made me buy into being interested in his outcome. The idea of the story - also novel, a gene virus that makes you crave junk food! Don't show this to anyone at McDonalds....

I liked the twist at the end. The dance metaphor was captivating. Donal is well cast in the super hero mold and he fits the part well. I look forward to the next part of his adventure.

The challenges of painting the grand epic. There are so many colors that make up the whole. Guernica comes to mind, the pieces by themselves each have a part in the story, but it is when they are together we truly feel the impact. I think the story form is harder in this regard because of its linear nature. Not sure there were any thing else to read for this month - sorry to have missed the meet.
