Captain Tricia Birdsell progressed in a short period of time from being a novice sailor who could not take the boat away from the dock, to confidently crossing oceans. She became a single-handed sailor and racer, worked on boats for a year in the Caribbean and Eastern United States, obtained her USCG License, and eventually became a role model for women when she owned and operated Herizen™ Sailing for Women, Inc. for 17 years. In 2005 she was bitten by the cruising bug and sailed in the US, Bahamas and Caribbean until she recently returned to Vancouver Island in 2013.
Tricia’s presentation will focus on a chapter from her book, Boat and Sail Handling Manual for Women and Their Shipmates, which helps men and women understand each other so they can develop a harmonious environment where they are both confident and competent. She also draws on John Gray’s popular Men are from Mars, Woman are from Venus to support her "list” of Male & Female Aspects.
Plan to attend this entertaining and thought-provoking presentation and hear about the yin and yang of cruising, without stereotyping.
