Gregg Goodhart is an accomplished classical guitarist and music educator who founded the Servite High School Classical Guitar Program in Anaheim, CA in 2000 and built it into one of the best guitar programs in the US. Having spent years doing extensive research in cognitive and behavioral psychology and neurobiology, Gregg is a renowned pedagogue whose innovative teaching methods have him in demand nationally. He has received several awards for music education and is a regular guest instructor at the Jacobs School at Indiana University and the Cincinnati Conservatory. His published articles have appeared in the journal of the American String Teacher’s Association, Soundboard, the journal of the Guitar Foundation of America, etc... (www.gghart.com)
For our workshop, Gregg will play a selection of works by S.L. Weiss, M. Giuliani, Villa-Lobos, A. York. His talk will be about the educational theory, psychology, and neuroscience behind the misunderstanding of talent, how to practice, and what really keeps us from being the confident, error free performers we would like to be on stage. Following which there will be a Practiclass / Masterclass.
