  • VINE Presents - Somiah Lattimore of VCU Innovate Living Learning Program

    Somiah Lattimore will be conducting an entrepreneurship workshop. Somiah is an an entrepreneur, internationally recognized educator, and award-winning visual designer. She is currently serving the Virginia Commonwealth University as Director of Experiential Learning for the da Vinci Center for Innovation. Before VCU, Somiah served as a creative consultant and student mentor for Apex Systems Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Virginia Tech. Previous professional positions include Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Salisbury University, Director of FourDesign and Assistant Professor of Visual Communication Design for the School of Visual Arts at Virginia Tech, and Creative Director for Carolina Media Publishing. She is the founder and Creative Director for Straight Up Creative, a collaborative design house and consults for several gaming, edtech, tourism, and cpg startups. Lattimore is an award-winning designer and creative director that has worked with clients such as NASCAR, Roush Racing, Commemorative Brands/Balfour, H. M. Terry Co. Inc., and Chatham Vineyards. Additionally, she is the co-founder for King Tide Supply Co™, an all-natural skin care line featured in Virginia and Maryland Whole Foods and among specialty shops along the east coast. Her primary focus is utilizing human-centered design & design thinking methodologies and systems improvement to grow the business. Lattimore received her Bachelor’s and Master of Fine Arts from Radford University with a focus in graphic design and holds an M.A. in Instructional Design and Technology from Virginia Tech. Her academic research explores human-centered design as as driver for innovation and entrepreneurship. She resides in Richmond, Va with her husband Adam, and daughters Violet, Lilly Blake and Laney Jane.
