Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word which translates to the "science or knowledge of life". It is an ancient Vedic healing system from India. Ayurveda views life as multi-dimensional. It is a holistic and natural medicine which emphasizes balance in all aspects of a person’s life, and integration of the three layers of life: physical, psychological and spiritual, otherwise known as body, mind and spirit .
You may have heard of the proverb: "When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use. When diet is right, medicine is of no need". This proverb describes what Ayurveda is all about. It is using food as medicine but it goes beyond food and diet. It encompasses lifestyle practices such as connecting with nature, using colors, essential oils and our five senses for balance and healing. It is a consciousness-based system. Consciousness brings awareness and awareness helps us make choices that enhance our body, mind and spirit.
I have been practicing Ayurveda since 2012 for my own healing from a chronic illness. In 2015, I became certified as an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Instructor through The Chopra Center; then completed a 500-hour program in Ayurvedic Digestion and Nutrition through Institute of Digestive Health at Joyful Belly Ayurveda in 2016. I am currently learning Vedic Counseling through Ayurveda Healing Institute.
It is my passion and desire to share my knowledge and experience with those who are interested in learning more about Ayurveda and those who would like to improve their own health through diet, nutrition and lifestyle practices.
