NW Veg Potluck and Presentation

Northwest VEG Portland Potluck 5 pm
Presentation by HSUS's Paul Shapiro 6:30 pm
"Speeding the Pace of Progress for Farm Animals"

Northwest VEG is very pleased to welcome Paul Shapiro back to Oregon on Sunday, Oct. 17. Join us at 6:30 pm for a presentation by Paul discussing some of the progress being made to combat factory farming and what we can do to continue moving the ball forward for farm animals. Or come earlier for our monthly 5 pm potluck!

Americans care about farmed animals. That was the message that Paul Shapiro, a founder of Compassion over Killing and now the senior director of the End Factory Farm Campaign of the Humane Society of the United States, brought to the Portland VegFest back in 2008. Recent great strides forward, at the ballot box in California in 2008 and in other actions throughout the United States since then, show that Paul was right.

The potluck and the talk will be at the West Hills Universal Unitarian Fellowship, 8470 SW Oleson Rd., Portland. Please bring a plant-based (no animal products, including honey) main dish, salad, or dessert; a card listing its ingredients; and plates and utensils for your use. Need plant-based ideas? Click here. If you come alone, figure the amount to serve 4–6 generously; increase the amount 4 servings for each additional person in your party/family. Northwest VEG potlucks are alcohol-free events. For more information, call[masked] or email [masked]. A donation of $2–5 per person is suggested for the potluck to help cover the cost of the room rental. Come to the potluck, the talk by Paul Shapiro, or both.
