TVW 2014: Pickling and Fermentation class + Store Tour

Pickles, sauerkraut and kimchee are simultaneously some of the simplest, most elegant, and most economical ways to enjoy your veggies! After this hands-on presentation you will sally forth with the confidence and curiosity to boldly experiment in your own kitchen and create stunningly flavorful fermented foods to enjoy all year round. Sadie will dispel some intimidating myths about home fermentation and turn you on to some crazy ideas about how you--and your vegetables--can benefit from this time-honored and revolutionary domestic art. You are welcome to simply observe and listen, but if you'd like to participate, please bring your own knife and cutting board, and a jar or other container to take your work home!

Instructor: Sadie Bowman

The event is free, but a small donation for supplies is greatly appreciated.

After the event, Sadie will provide a store tour of People's for those interested in learning what vegans eat/buy. Also, grab  some food to go from People's if you are heading to the volunteer gig!

I've had a family issue come up that requires my attention tomorrow morning that I can't get out of. I'm sad I cannot attend the class tomorrow. I will be watching for the next opportunity.

From Sadie, the presenter "Hey everybody! To get the most of this hands-on experience, please bring a cutting board, knife, and (very important!) a quart-sized (or thereabouts) jar with a lid. You'll be starting your very own fermentation project and taking it home to tend and enjoy in a few days or a few weeks!"
