VOCADEMY - The Makerspace Pages

"Hands-On Skills" Where do you get them? Where are those vocational schools that used to teach "old school" knowledge? Where do you go to learn something as "simple" as the proper use of a hammer? A milling machine? A dial caliper? A blueprint?

Now there is such a place, introducing:

-------------------------VOCADEMY! The Vocational, Shop Skills and DIY Academy.-------------------------

    WHO SHOULD ATTEND & WHY:
  • These are essential skills to those making a career of engineering. You need to know how to use the tools and machines to make things before you can engineer them yourself!

  • These are essential skills for those interested in "DIY." Learn about the tools and techniques that will enable you to do it yourself!

  • These are essential skills for those that want knowledge and abilities for a current or future job. You NEED to know the basics, let us show them to you!

  • These are essential skills for those that love "making things." Your toolbox can open a world of possibilities, let us show you how!

    WHAT WE ARE PLANNING:
  • A very informal and fun learning environment with no more than six to ten students.

  • Classes that are only 2 to 4 hours. Some are "stand alone" and some are pre-requisites for other classes.

  • "Real World" practical information straight from industry and experts. No theory, no complex subjects.

  • The "20/80 principal." We will supply you the critical 20% of knowledge that you will use 80% of the time.

  • "Learning 2.0" methods. Not just textbooks and speeches. Hands-on activities, on-line and interactive manuals, Q&A sessions and "student-centric" learning.

  • A certificate of completion for each class. No official value, but good padding for a resume! biggrin

    HOW YOU CAN HELP:

  • Let your friends, co-workers, and fellow students know about us. Spread the word and help us grow!

  • Let us know if there are specific subjects, classes or skill sets that interest you.

  • Do you have a skill set you want to share? Need more info? Contact: Vocademy@Hotmail.com

    Welcome to our grand experiment!
