As the giving season rapidly approaches, I wanted to draw attention to a charitable opportunity for those interested.
One of my favorite organizations is Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence. They have an annual holiday boutique for their families. They collect donated items and set up a boutique for parents and kids to "shop" for each other and wrap the gifts to keep them secret. They will need both donations of new, unwrapped items for gifts and volunteers to do set up and break down of the boutique, along with people to run shifts in the boutique. Please see below for the message from the volunteer coordinator, Rora. If you would like to sign up for a shift, please send her a message at [masked]:
"We’re seeking volunteers to work on setting up for the boutique on the weeks of December 2 and 9, Mon-Fri. 9-5.
The Boutique dates and times are:
Thursday, December 19, and Friday, December 20, 9am-9pm
Shift times are 9-12, 11:30-3, 2:30-6, and 5:30-9
Saturday, December 21, and Monday, December 23, 9am-6pm.
Shift times are 9-12, 11:30-3, 2:30-6
The address is 234 Gish Rd., suite 200, San Jose, 95112."
You can find a list of the items they are requesting, along with more information here: http://www.nextdoor.org/support/volunteer-opportunities/holiday-boutique/ Please note that they are also in need of wrapping items, so even picking up an extra roll or wrapping paper or tape would be extremely helpful! I will be at Starbucks from 11AM-1PM to collected any donated items.
Please let me know if you have any questions! Thank you!
