This group is for anyone who wants to give back to their community through charity work and volunteering. Most events will be in Fairfield or Westchester counties. We welcome suggestions and requests for help from non-profit organizations! =)

2019 TD Five Boro Bike Tour (multiple shifts available!)

The 2019 TD Five Boro Bike Tour is one of the largest cycling events. More than 32,000 cyclists will ride 40 miles through all five boroughs of New York City. Many volunteers are needed to help make this vent a success! this is the largest bike ride in the US! This event requires volunteers to register on a separate website. What You’ll Be Doing: Rest Area Volunteers assist with the setup, operation of, and breakdown of the designated stop along the route. Tasks include; setting up tables, filling up water coolers, placing snacks on tables, and picking up trash and recyclables. There are also some spots open for Course Marshals and Bike Assistants! What To Know: Volunteers should have good customer service skills, as you will be interacting with the public. This position is located outdoors, rain or shine. PLEASE DRESS ACCORDINGLY. Training provided on event day. A confirmation email for each shift you sign up for will be sent the week prior to the Event. The Perks: Volunteers receive breakfast and/or lunch during their shift, and a commemorative T-Shirt. As a thank you for being an integral part of our Tour weekend, all volunteers will be able to register early for the 2020 TD Five Boro Bike Tour, and 50% off the registration fee for one of our 2019 regional rides (the Discover Hudson Valley or Twin Lights Ride). Help out at Bread of Life food pantry (kids 5+ welcome)

Volunteers are needed to help sort and pack food pantry donations for local senior citizens. Bread of Life provides food to families and over 17 church & government food pantries and shelters throughout southern Westchester County. Come be a part of this great organization for the day! **If you plan on volunteering with your child please include them in your rsvp as a +1 and let me know their name and age in the comments section. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Thanks!** About Bread of Life: Bread of Life is a Rye, NY based not-for-profit organization committed to serving our neighborhood. It is the only food rescue organization, which also has its own on-site food pantry. We pick up locally and deliver free of charge to neighborhood food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters, serving over 9,000 hungry weekly. Bread of Life receives its food supplies from various sources, but one unique source is donations by local businesses of excess food that would otherwise be discarded as waste. Bread of Life’s beneficiaries are not only physically hungry, but are also in need of assurance that their lives are matter.

May The 4th Be With You BBQ at the Ronald McDonald House in Valhalla

*** Moving the event to Weds May 8th due to schedules *** Let's prepare a BBQ for the families who stay at the Ronald McDonald House while their children are in the hospital. We did a Star Wars themed BBQ last year and it was a huge hit with the families. ** Please list what you're making/bringing in the comments --- Thanks! ** • What we'll do We will prepare a meal for the 12 families using the Ronald McDonald House as a home-away from home while their child receives medical care in a local hospital. • What to bring Bring the ingredients for one dish and prepare in our kitchen. (All items must be prepared on site or come from a commercial kitchen; nothing can be made or prepped or marinated at home). The house has 2 stoves, 3 sinks, 1 microwave, pots, pans, etc and basic spices. Please bring anything else you might need to make your dish. About a week before the event, we'll start to plan the menu so we can provide a full and balanced meal for the families. If you have a favorite dish or a special family recipe, please suggest it in the comments! • Important to know You can arrive between 4:00-5:30PM to prep. Dinner is served Buffet Style at 6pm so please plan accordingly :) After we cook, we clean, and set up the food, some volunteers stay to enjoy the food and each other's company. Help out at Furniture Sharehouse!

Westchester County Airport

Volunteers wanted! Need a couple extra pair of hands to help with organizing at Furniture Sharehouse. Location: Furniture Sharehouse Warehouse at Westchester County Airport Loop Road, Building #3, Westchester County Airport, White Plains, NY 10604 We’re behind the Cell Phone Waiting Lot – please turn down Taxi Lane and park in front of our building. There is help needed in organizing the various sections in the warehouse. We have areas for lamps, "bonus", art work, chairs, mirrors, tables, and more! Bonus = extra household items such as dishes, glasses, vases, linens etc that the clients can take if they need. Volunteers also can help by handing out donation forms and assisting donors with loading in their items. About Furniture Sharehouse: Furniture Sharehouse is Westchester County’s furniture bank – we provide free furniture to those who need it. We take donations of small to medium sized furniture that’s in good condition from Westchester residents and business and store it at our warehouse. Clients are referred to us by a social service agency (over 30 are registered with Furniture Sharehouse) and they include women and children escaping domestic violence, children aging out of foster care, military veterans, families in financial hardship, those recovering from floods and other natural disasters, and more.
