Calling all Vŏnē Research coral reef enthusiasts!
Many of you have asked to learn more about the coral species we work with at the Biorock project. Here is in an excellent opportunity.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is offering a free 2.5 hour Stony Coral Identification course that will introduce thirty species of stony corals found offshore of southeast Florida from Miami-Dade through Martin counties, the northern third of the Florida Reef Tract. All participants will receive a copy of the training documents for future reference. This class is intended for adults, but is also appropriate for young budding marine biologists, ages twelve and up.
Please note that there will be two identical classes held on two different dates. Each class will be held in Miami-Dade County at the Coral Reef Conservation Program office at 1277 NE 79th Street Causeway, Miami, FL 33138. Space is limited, so reserve your spot early by sending a RSVP to Coral@dep.state.fl.us as well as signing up here on the Vŏnē Research Meetup site.
