A fun-packed adventure to the top of the world! Drive your own team of dogs across an arctic landscape of lakes, rivers and through winding forest trails. Stay overnight in a wilderness cabin and enjoy a roll in the snow after a warming sauna, keeping your fingers crossed for a view of the Northern Lights! This 4-day Meetup delivers maximum adventure for minimal time off work.
Day One: Sunday
On arrival at Kiruna airport you will be met by your guide and taken to the kennels and your cosy Lodge accommodation. Depending on your arrival time, you can enjoy a warming lunch followed by an afternoon on snow shoes! Our guide will take you to the top of the 'hill with a thousand views' where you can enjoy the sights of Lapland from above. If you arrive late in the afternoon you can simply settle in for the night at the Lodge. Straight away you’ll be immersed in the Arctic, from the plane landing on a snowy runway to the dogs barking in their cosy dog houses surrounding the Lodge.
Overnight Lodge. Lunch & Dinner included.
Day Two: Monday
After breakfast and a brief introduction to your adventure ahead, you will be kitted out with Arctic outer-wear to keep you toasty during your adventure.
Then it’s time for you to meet your very own dog team! You'll be given instruction on how to handle the dogs and the sled before setting off on this thrilling journey. The dogs are strong and are born to run so the start is always exciting as they finally get their wish. Once on your way the excitement gives way to a wonderful silence as you glide your way through the 'last wilderness on earth'.
Eventually you arrive at the wilderness cabin, far from people, roads and noise. Water is collected from below the ice in a nearby brook, candles light the cabin and wood stoves provide plenty of warmth. If you ever wanted to see how the likes of Shackleton or other Polar explorers lived on the ice, this is your chance! And although basic, these rustic stays are usually the highlight of the trip for most people.
Overnight cabin. All meals included.
Day Three: Tuesday
Breakfast is served for you and the dogs before you head off into the wilds again. No doubt feeling more relaxed on the sled today you can take time to enjoy the stunning frozen landscape during your full day of adventure. Lunch will be served as an 'arctic picnic' prepared on the trail.
Once back at the Lodge, you can enjoy a hot sauna under the stars, dinner and a comfortable nights stay.
Overnight Lodge. All meals included.
Day Four: Wednesday
As your time in Lapland draws to a close you have the option to enjoy one last adventure at the world's original, and arguably the best, Ice Hotel. The hotel has a world-wide reputation for being the “coolest” in the world – it is in fact a constant -5 degrees centigrade no matter what the temperature outside! This temperature makes it comfortable to stay in and walk around but cool enough for the individually hand-crafted rooms with ice sculptures, beds and chairs, as well as the Ice Bar, to stay frozen.
The tour ends with a transfer from the Ice Hotel to the airport at approx. 11.30/12.00. Breakfast included. See below for lunch options.
