RIVER TRAIL @ WARREN WILSON COLLEGE

  • Aug 24, 2013 · 10:00 AM

Easy, approx 4 miles R.T. on this there & back hike. This shady trail follows a nice section of the Swannanoa River. There will be an optional splashing opportunity to cool yourself off. (Splashing in shallow water is the idea -- please be aware there is No Swimming.) Meet at 10:00 in Asheville. Back around 3:00. Wear good footwear because there are some rocky & muddy places. NOTES: 1) Please contact hike leader directly if you would like to bring a child/youth. 2) Please contact hike leader for permission in order to bring a dog (and dogs will need to keep dry). 3) The hike leader will send participants an email w/ more info, including the meeting location. Hike Leader: Lisa McWherter at [masked], or call[masked]-4994.

May I bring my dog? She has been there many times off-leash.

I wish I could bring my dog. She loves hiking and I can't bear to hike without her.

Hi, Maggie. Sorry I didn't see this message until today. As we discussed on the phone, you were welcome to come and bring your dog, keeping her on a leash (which is Sierra Club's policy). I had also asked that you keep her out of the water so she wouldn't get other hikers wet. Perhaps you can make it for another of our hikes some time --

This was my first WENOCA hike. I enjoyed the hike and participants. This will
not be my last WENOCA outing. If there was one problem -- I wish I was warned
about the vast poison ivy fields -- had I known, I would have worn long pants.
Otherwise, it was swell. The hike was as advertised.

To those who've signed up: AS OF 10:45 A.M. ON FRIDAY (8/23) everyone should have received an email with details & meeting place for this hike. NOTE: We are NOT meeting at our usual location. If you have NOT received the hike info, then it might be a problem with your email spam settings. Hence, please call me at[masked]
