Aloha Kakou!

We are WONDERWALL'S UKULELE MEETUP GROUP(formerly known as Wonderwall's Oak Park Ukulele Meetup Group aka The Harrison Street Ukulele Players). We meet on the first Tuesday of each month at Tiki Terrace Hawaiian Restaurant, Des Plaines, 60018. The name of our Meetup group changed in October 2013 due to our new location.

Our 'sister' group, UKULELE SUBURBIA is meets on the Wednesday, (next day after first Tuesday) each month at Wonderwall Music Shoppe in Chicago Heights, 60411.

We welcome like-minded folks who Love and Respect the Ukulele, the Hawaiian culture from which it came from, and other other. Open to all levels, ages, though young minors must be accompanied by their parents/guardians.

We play songs of Hawai'i, Beatles, Tin Pan Alley, Country Western, Folk, Pop, Rock, Contemporary, and more! We have easy 2, 3, and 4 chords songs, as well as more challenging songs for more advance players. We mix it up to have a nice variety for all to enjoy!

Donation: $10. Songbooks are distributed. Bottled water for all attendees. This group is more focused, an intimate, class-like group that works on various songs and strums.

Chicagoland's north side Ukulele group in Des Plaines, IL, near Chicago O'Hare Airport! The basis of our ukulele group has always been Hawaiian music and culture. 'The Spirit of Aloha' lives and is within each of us. We share it, with respect towards each other, through the music and camaraderie at our meetups. We play Hawaiian, Beatles, Tin Pan Alley, oldies and some current songs too. All current members, please bring your new and old song booklets. Extra hard copies will be on hand for 'malihinis' (newcomers). We meet once-a-month, on the first Tuesday of each month, at The Tiki Terrace - Hawaiian Restaurant & Tiki Bar in Des Plaines! This is REAL Hawaiian hospitality, atmosphere and food. The PERFECT venue for our Meetups and room to grow even more. Hawaiian attire is perfect here! Our format for the evening: Before 6:30 PM - Sign in/pick up (new) song booklet(s) 6:30 - approximately 7:20 PM - Play Hawaiian songs. (We'll always play from our Hawaiian songbook during first half of evening.) 7:20/7:30 PM - Break for 10-15 minutes 7:35/40 - 8:30 PM - Play from other songbook. 'Sister' group: Ukulele Suburbia - The Ukulele Group of Chicago's South Suburbs!

Founded in 2013, UKULELE SUBURBIA is the sister and Chicagoland's south suburb Ukulele meetup group. We meet on the first Wednesday of each month, except when a major holiday falls on that Wednesday. (i.e. - New Years, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Independence Day, etc.) or if personal situation (illness, etc.) arises. Where: Wonderwall Music Shoppe - Showroom Time: 6-8 PM. $10 per person. RSVP IS MANDATORY. Limited space. This meetup session is more intimate and focused on learning songs, different strums. We take our time with each song. Bottled water, song booklets and music stands available for everyone. All current members should bring all their old and new song booklets.
