  • Anthony Chabot Regional Park, Clyde Woolridge Staging Area

Skyline Blvd & Grass Valley Rd, Oakland, CA (map)

    37.754173 -122.118439

  • This staging area is in Castro Valley off Lake Chabot Rd. just past the main entrance to the park. I'll be driving a dark blue Toyota Prius and have two mini-dachshunds.
  • Start the week off right! Join me for a  hike this Monday starting at 9 am from the Clyde Woolridge Staging area in Oakland  The route for this hike will be: Jackson Grade to Brandon, up Escondido, down Mirador to Two Rocks, and finishing up on either Columbine and Cascade (if it's hot) or Columbine, Bass Cove and Goldenrod (if it's not hot).  We should be done well before 12 noon.

To get to this staging area, take the Golf Links exit from 580 (the exit to the Oakland Zoo).  At the bottom of the ramp turn towards the zoo.  Drive up the hill past the zoo entrance. Exactly 1.8 miles up Golf Links Rd. the road forks. Bear left onto Grass Valley Rd.  Grass Valley Rd. ends in .5 miles at Skyline Blvd and the staging area is there on your right.  Use the map link above for exact directions from your location.   (Note:  There is no bathroom at the staging area, but there is one along the way).

    Hike rating:  Moderate
Hiking pace:  Semi fast (this group averages ~20 minutes/mile over hilly terrain including stops to water the dogs)

This hike will leave PROMPTLY at the start time.

Efforts will be made to keep the group together, but if you cannot keep up with the group we will not be on the lookout for you. It is recommended that you obtain a map at the beginning of the hike in case the group is separated.
