Anthony Chabot Regional from the Nike Classroom - 7 to 8 miles

This is my regular Wednesday hike, but moved to the bottom of the hill through December, 2016, to accommodate the temporary closure of the Nike Classroom staging area and approach road.

We'll meet on Lake Chabot Road, near the main entrance to Lake Chabot Regional Park.  If you're familiar with Nike Classroom, instead of driving up the Nike Base Road, just park on Lake Chabot Road somewhere between the entrance to the Marina and Arcadian Road.  We'll meet on the sidewalk before heading up the MacGregor Trail.

HIKERATING: Moderate

HIKING PACE: Semi-Fast (approximately 20 minutes/mile including stops to water the dogs).  Each person will be responsible for themselves - if you are unable to keep up with the group pace, I will not be on the lookout for you. It is recommended that you obtain a map at the beginning of the hike in case the group is separated.

This hike will leave PROMPTLY at the start time.  If you run into trouble the morning of the hike you can try to reach me at [masked], but most parks have poor cell service.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:

Please use the Google Maps link above to familiarize yourself with the trip and explore various route options from your home.  Zoom in all the way. It is good practice to confirm the night before that any app you use takes you to where you expect by comparing the destination with what is posted above on your PC/Mac.    Print out the driving directions if you are unfamiliar with the area. Many parks are in areas with poor cell service, so DO NOT rely completely on your smartphone's GPS.  Most street addresses provided are approximate.

HIKING DIRECTIONS:  This is a repeating Wednesday hike and the route will vary somewhat.  Distance will be between 7 and 8 miles and we will be done by 11 am.

BATHROOMS:  We will pass at least 1 bathroom along the route

GRAZING ANIMALS: none likely
