Welcome new members to Walk for Fitness by the Coast & Socials 50's.
This meetup is for those who enjoy a walk along the coast.
All walks will be followed by tea/coffee/lunch.
We will meet at the dart station at the time shown at the meetup for most of the walks, unless otherwise stated, and we allow ten minutes for late delays etc. Walks are mainly 2 hours total walk time.
Each meetup will be maximum of 15 people approx. per Meetup with wait list for cancellations.
Each walk will be unable to be extended to more than 15 people or so, so please change your rsvp to no if you cannot go on a walk or meetup, in order to free a space for someone else if they want to join in on the walk.
- RSVP The walks will get busier as the summer arrives . If you RSVP to attend an outing and then change your mind or can't attend, please change your RSVP to 'NO' at least 24 hours in advance so that someone else can take your place. It's also nice for other members to know who will be attending. It's understandable that sometimes you may forget to change your RSVP if you can't attend.
- No Shows: Any member who continually fails to turn up for events (3 times) that they indicated they would attend will be removed from the group. I'm sure you will understand the need to abide by this rule. It is unfair to book places in restaurants or other businesses and then fail to fill the number of places booked.
- Respect: Any member who is causing undue stress to another member will not be tolerated and will be deleted from the group.
Walks will require a maximum of 4 people to go ahead.
Normally a note will be posted on the meetup if the walk is cancelled due to heavy rain, so keep a check on emails if you have rsvp to go on the walk.
The walks can vary at the moment from midweek to weekend, but may have to be weekend depending on circumstances and demand.
We can decide as a group after the walk, for tea/coffee or lunch.
Pace of Walks
All are walks are for the normal/medium pace walker. Good footwear is needed, warm clothing, rainwear, and also bring a drink/snack with you on the walks.
Any new members who are attending a meetup who are not familiar with the area and are driving please ensure that you do not park near a car parking meter on a Saturday/Sunday. Most of the dart stations have parking for 4 euros all day. If you are not familiar with the area please check on line the car parking for the location of the meetup if it is not already mentioned, as you dont want to risk the possibility of your car being clamped.
IMPORTANT NOTICE RE INSURANCE PLEASE READ
Insurance: Please note: this activity is taken at your own risk, and the organiser has no responsibility for any injuries or damage.
Personal Insurance for Walkers and Charges please visit Mountaineering Ireland website for annual charges:
Membership of the 'Mountaineering Council of Ireland' provides insurance for walkers; please click below for details of the charges.
Health & Safety: Events are organised with H&S in mind (max numbers, no unsafe venues/destinations tc.), however, each member attends events at their own risk.
The group does not have Accidental Insurance cover for members going on walks and members are responsible for their own safety and they attend all meet-ups at their own risk.
If a member has any health issues they must ensure that they have their Doctors permission to take part and health issues must be declared to the walk organiser when you join as some of the walks may not be suitable for there fitness level, i.e. Cliff Walk or Howth loop walks, where there may be a bit of a climb or the walks are more strenuous. The flat walks would probably be more suitable for them.
By signing up to this meet-up group and attending the walks you acknowledge that you accept responsibility for your own safety at all meet-ups.
Any new ideas for walks are welcome.
Walks will include
Cliff Walk Bray to Greystones
Bray Head walk start at Wilton Hotel and towards top of Bray Head
Seapoint to Dun Laoghaire including East Pier Sandycove and on to Dalkey
Killruddery Park and Market Bray
Clontarf to Dollymount
Malahide to Portmarnock
I hope you enjoy the meetup and any new suggestions for walks, or meetups are welcome.
