This is a listing of American Volkssport events throughout this region. These events are often walks, but may include swims, bikes or snow shoe events. Check the American Volkssport Association website (AVA.org) for more information. The events are open to everyone. River Walk,Belle Fourche, SD

Center of Nation Visitor Center

Event will use the Belle Fourche River Walk bike path. Participants can visit the Center of Nation Visitor Center and Tri-State Museum. Water will be available at Start/Finish. Carrying water is highly recommended. Pets must be leashed. Belle Fourche is located 58 miles north of Rapid City. Use I-90 west to Spearfish then US 85 north to Belle Fourche. Start any time between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Crazy Horse, SD

Crazy Horse Memorial

The trail takes you through the woods and around the memorial to the route to the top of the arm of Crazy Horse. Registration opens at 7:00am. All walkers must be signed in and on the trail by 1:00pm. NO LATE STARTS PERMITTED. Advise the entrance gate workers that you are participating in the Volksmarch--- the Crazy Horse entrance fee is three cans or food or $3 per person at the gate(this event only). NO PETS ALLOWED. Hell Canyon, Custer, SD

Hell Canyon Trail

Steep first 1/2 mile to the rim, flat grade on the rim, and then descend into Hell Canyon. This is a Sunday walk. Water at the start/finish. Restrooms at Jewel Cave. Dogs allowed only on the Hell Canyon portion of the walk. Start 8-12, Finish by 3 From Rapid City take Hwy 16 to Custer, SD. Lover's Leap Trail, Custer, SD

Scenic view of the Black Hills - steep ascent to the ridge. 5K will be along the creek from Coolidge Lodge to the Lover's Leap Trail and back. 10K will drive to the Schoolhouse and do the full Lover's Leap Trail Loop.
