The Challenge: Although anyone is welcome to join us, this group walks to get in and/or stay in shape and/or to lose weight. Our goal is to do 4 miles in 1 hour so depending on our speed, it usually takes us just about an hour - more or less - to complete this walk. Although we try to always average at least 4 mph, we can range anywhere from no less than 3.8 mph and up to 4.5 mph (and, depending on who's there, occasionally more). So clearly, we're walking at a pretty brisk clip. We walk intentionally to get our heart rates up, our muscles warmed, and to work up a bit of a sweat - regardless of how cool it may be. If this interests you, then come on.....sign on up and join us!!
We meet at 8:30 AM in the last parking lot to the far RIGHT (Parking Lot #3), and start the walk no later than 8:35. Please be cognizant of the start time as some of our walkers need to get to work after the walk. As you enter the park, turn right and go all the way to the end, and park near the trains and the community gardens.
As a bonus, after the walk you can visit the Farmer's Market that Lakes Park is currently hosting. The market will be present up through the last Wednesday in April. Please note that during the "Farmer's Market season", parking at Lakes Park is free on Wednesdays, but only up until 1PM. Once the market is done, it'll be time to pay again, or you can park there for free with a Lee County parking pass ($60/Yr).
Ok then......are you ready??? Then, let's do it!!!
