A truly terrific weekend of great coastal walking with some hills, spectacular scenery and a famous glen too !

The Isle of Man is a most wonderful location and all who came last time have fond memories of this treasured island.

Please book any hotel in Douglas for Saturday and Sunday night through as a suggestion and then kindly put a notification on the event page of your hotel.

Anyone who hasn't booked their hotel and travel by Sunday 6th January shall be removed from the trip.

Easy jet flights to book from/to Gatwick if arriving on Saturday :

Sat 1210 flight
Mon 2105 flight

BA flights are currently available flying from/into London City airport if you so choose but they are more expensive and the timings at 11.50am and 4.45pm respectively are not very convenient for the walks.

You may of course extend your trip by arriving in advance or staying on after the trip itself.

You MUST buy a 3 day travel card for buses and trains for £36 or a 5 day travelcard for £43 if taking more than one bus on Friday.

Planned walks :

SATURDAY - bus to Castletown from Bus Vennin depot at either
3.22pm/3.42pm/4.02pm or even 4.22pm ( but will need to catch us up )
Take the FIRST bus you can from the bus station ( journey 42 mins )

Coastal walk starting at around 4.45pm from outside Viking Hotel on Station Road :
Castletown, Derbyhaven & St Michael's Head

Bus back to Douglas at around 7.30pm

SUNDAY - steam train :

meet 9.15am for train at 9.50am - return journey shall likely be by bus

Coastal walk : Port St Mary to Port Erin - a simply stunning walk

MONDAY - electric train :

meet 8.15am for train at 8.40am arrives Ballajora at 9.43am

Glens walks :

Lunch in Laxey

Everyone travelling back to Luton with Easyjet need be on the train back from Laxey at 12.55pm that arrives back at Douglas at 1.25pm and should keep their cases together in the hotel closest to the electric train station and book taxis for 1.45pm.

All three walks are around 7-9 miles in length.

You are expected to do all three walks, to have adequate and appropriate insurance and be able to walk 2.5 miles per hour on the flat for at least 9 miles.

Meet up fee £30 payable on the Saturday, reduced to £20 if having attended at least three events in 2019 payable in advance if possible or on the Saturday.
