Description: From the trailhead we will follow First Water Trail to Second Water (also called Garden Valley). At the signpost for the Black Mesa Trail we will go west through a valley of Cholla which is Garden Valley. We will continue on and hopefully include Hackberry Spring in the loop if we happen to wander the wrong way then we will just take a side trip to the spring. Then come back and see remnants of an old ranch before returning back to the trailhead. The spring is a pipe with lots of shade. A nice place to have lunch or a snack towards the end of our journey.
