Garden Valley Hackberry Spring Loop (East of Apache Junction)

Description: From the trailhead we will follow First Water Trail to Second Water (also called Garden Valley). At the signpost for the Black Mesa Trail we will go west through a valley of Cholla which is Garden Valley. We will continue on and hopefully include Hackberry Spring in the loop if we happen to wander the wrong way then we will just take a side trip to the spring. Then come back and see remnants of an old ranch before returning back to the trailhead. The spring is a pipe with lots of shade. A nice place to have lunch or a snack towards the end of our journey.
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate, 

Total Distance: ~5-6 miles depending on where we wander

Elevation Gain: 340 feet with total accumulated gain of 700 ft 

Drive Time: 30 Minutes, 

Water to Bring: 2 liters 

Meeting Time/Place: 8:00am CARPOOL at: Home Depot Southeast corner of Power Rd & US 60 (6838 E. Superstition Springs Blvd., Mesa). Park in southern portion near Burger King.
8:30 am ish - at First Water TRAILHEAD: US 60 to Idaho Rd exit go north for approximately 2+ miles then turn right on SR 88. Follow SR 88 approximately 6 miles to the First Water Trailhead. The Turn off is just pass the Lost Dutchman State Park turnoff. Turn right and follow it all the way to the end at the Trailhead.

RSVP By: No later than Saturday Morning at 10am 

Special Instructions: Should take approximately 3+ hours. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, hat, first aid and whatever your body requires.
