Michaux and SNP fall foliage cabin weekends!

I’m Mike Darzi and I approved this message.

There is no debating that cabin fever is breaking out! In our never ending quest for fabulous fall foliage hiking fun, we (the royal “we”) have scheduled two rustic cabin weekends. Both are PATC cabins and the trips are limited to about 10 lucky people who reserve & pay in advance. (Contact me directly to reserve.) The lodging cost is $25 for each trip, and includes one communal dinner and more. Yes, of course—you may go on both trips if you reserve separately. We will do moderate (2-3.5 blisters) day hikes from the cabins and you can sit out any hike.

In addition, each cabin comes with no electricity, no wifi, no electricity, no (unnaturally) running water, a privy, wood-burning stove and fireplace, and lousy or no cell reception. Doesn’t that sound good? There’s nothing to interfere with your fun. The cabins have bunk beds with pads, so you’ll need a sleeping bag or bedding. High-class all the way! Common to both trips are a beautiful setting, great hikes, fabulous colors, stunning views, good company, and no pesky relatives (unless they reserve separately, so don’t tell them about it). I’ll send complete info on what to bring, carpooling, and the agenda to those going.

1)  Anna Michener Cabin, October 19-21 (Fri-Sun, 3 days, 2 nites), in Michaux State Forest, PA. Hiking highlights include Little Sunset Ridge, Sunset Rocks, Camp Michaux, Pole Steeple, and Chimney Rocks. Here are some pix of the place to give you an idea:

2) Schairer Trail Center, October 27-28 (Sat-Sun, 2 days, 1 nite), next to Shenandoah National Park, VA. Hiking highlights include the great trails of the south section of SNP, complete with waterfalls and overlooked overlooks. There is a beautiful view of the valley and adjacent mountains from the cabin itself.

In case you missed out on our last hike to Camp Hoover, here are some pix to ease your regret:
