Because of cancellations, we now have 2 spots (out of 10) open for this weekend’s backpacking trip to Shenandoah NP. I know it’s late, but if you are interested and can take Friday off and would like to get away from the city (or pesky in-laws) and would like to get some exercise and wouldn’t mind good company and would enjoy great views, at least three waterfalls, and maybe swimming in a cold stream and hate run-on sentences, this is a great chance. The trip is cheap and relatively easy. We’ll stay the first night (Friday) at Big Meadows campground and the second night (Saturday) by a nice stream in the backcountry, and finish around midday on Sunday. So, if you’ve b/p’d in the past, but are rusty and would like to try again; if you’re a beginner who has equipment, but doesn’t know what to do with it; or if you are more experienced, but have nothing better to do, join us.
You will need the minimum basic equipment: tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, hiking boots, headlamp or flashlight, etc. You can also borrow tent & bag, but would need to let me know. We can share other gear (stove, water filter, etc), or bring your own.
If interested, let me know ASAP to get full details; otherwise, have a great weekend doing something else.
Congratulations to all the One Day Hikers, and a big thanks to all of you who volunteered. Here are some pix from that event:
