April 2019 General Meeting of the Pi

Susan Bearden, on Technology in Schools

What does high quality education technology use look like, and what structures need to be in place to make that happen? In her talk, Susan will discuss how technology is currently being used in schools, trends for the future, and the digital literacies students need to be successful in college and beyond.

Susan M. Bearden is the Chief Innovation Officer for the Consortium for School Networking, an association for K-12 technology leaders. She did a stint at the U.S. Department of Education (in the Office of Educational Technology), and has been recognized, most recently with the 2019 Pillar Award from the Association of Technology Leaders in Independent Schools. She is the author of “Digital Citizenship: A Community-Based Approach” and co-moderator of the popular Twitter chat #edtechchat.

The meeting begins with our star Q&A panel, Roy Wagner & Bruce Brown, followed by Pi Business. Then comes our Coffee social, and then Susan Bearden's EdTech talk.

We'll do subs lunch and have Roy Wagner command his trademark Mobile Lifestyle Sig afterward.

We will stream the meeting either over the Pi's YouTube channel (http://bit.ly/PiYouTubeChannel), or via Zoom. Stay tuned for details

The General Meeting will be in Exploratory Hall, Room L0004, on the George Mason University campus in Fairfax VA.
