What we're about

The Warrenton Inklings Society references the 1930s group of writers from the University of Oxford that included famed authors such as C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Owen Barfield. They valued narrative fiction and encouraged fantasy writing. The group met informally to review and discuss each other's writings.

The modern version of Inklings will celebrate local authors, foster a literary culture, provide workshops and sell publications from local authors, as well as best sellers. The intimate setting will welcome writers and readers alike.

One component of the Inklings Society is the Writers' Retreat. Writers are welcome to participate in a collaborative writing session at Allegro Community School of the Arts' 5 Culpeper Street location in Old Town Warrenton. Weekly discussions, writing exercises and readings will take place.

Collaborative writing sessions are Thursdays from 5:30-6:30pm. The Writers' Retreat is open daily from 11am until 8pm.
