• Enjoy Tango & Tango Vals classes & practica with Tango Warwick

Learn and enjoy dancing authentic Argentine Tango from Tango Warwick's wonderful teachers Luis Rodriguez & Elizabeth Knock. The classes are on Fridays except for the first Friday of each month. THIS FRIDAY THE SECOND & THIRD CLASSES WILL BE ON TANGO VALS. At 6.30 there is the beginners class, catering especially for the recently enrolled newcomers. It also serves as a time for improving the all important basic techniques. The more advanced courses are later in evening, restricted to more experienced dancers and by permission of the teacher. Most students find joining in the basic classes useful, or essential, even while taking the most advanced ones. Of course newcomers will be made very welcome; and afterwards there is a lively practice/ social dancing session to round up an enjoyable, and instructive evening. The practica is after the third class but is open and free to those who have done any of the classes (and a nominal charge to others)--you could always bring something to read in the hall or lobby or go round the corner to a pub or cafe and come back at 9.30? Remember: • You don't need a partner, Argentine Tango is a social dance and it is standard practice to change partners during the classes. • Let me know if you have any queries I might help with. Our "resident" teachers for the first half of 2019 are Luis Rodriguez from Argentina & Elizabeth Knock. They travel up from London to teach and inspire us. Their philosophy is to teach what you need for social dancing, anywhere in the world with anyone who is ready to dance. Their dancing style is of beautiful simplicity. They emphasise this, and dancing with the music, from the very first class. • Practice Argentine Tango at Warwick SPACE

    Warwick SPACE,

NB: THESE EVENTS WILL NOW TAKE PLACE ON THE FIRST & THIRD WEDNESDAYS OF EACH MONTH, NOT WEEKLY! This is an opportunity to practice Argentine Tango. You will need to have done some tango in order to have something to practice! but a class or two should be enough. These sessions are regular events with tango dancers who want to improve their dancing whilst they enjoy it. It is a friendly, totally relaxed and sociable time with a small number of dancers of wildly different levels, and tea & coffee and sometimes cakes. There is a decent floor and music. It is likely that you will be able to dance with or be advised by a more experienced dancer (especially in the first hour) but you can easily avoid that if you prefer! This is not a substitute for classes and the other participants are not teachers, though they are usually happy to advise inexperienced dancers who are about to take classes or are taking regular classes. It is organised by Tom Dillon, see https://www.facebook.com/groups/647271378622582/ Drop by anytime, for any time. PS It costs £5, to be discretely slipped into a box on Tom's desk by his music. PPS If the door appears shut ring the bell!

  • Milonga "La Ideal", with Jose Fernandez & Martina Waldman

NO CLASSES AT ST MARY's on 7th June-instead an opportunity for social dancing, this time with a performance of top level show tango, and with music chosen by a very popular DJ: Kirsty Bennett. This is the June edition of Tango Warwick's monthly milonga: the social event for tango dancers in this region. We are delighted that Jose Fernadez & Martina Waldman will return to Tango Warwick for this milonga. Jose was World Champion in Tango Stage in 2008 and Jose & Martina have performed and taught across the world, including in the theatre show "Immortal Tango" in Sadler's Wells. They will perform for us, giving a wonderful opportunity to see spectacular show tango at its highest level. This milonga will also see the return of Kirsty Bennett as guest DJ. Her choice of music when she DJ'd for our February milonga was very popular, and we are looking forward to more of it! As well as this the special edition will include the usual warm welcome, traditional music, good company, lovely dances waiting to be had, delightful vibes, plus nibbles with some wine for early arrivers---but BYOB if you wish! At the door: £12 / (£8 - students). 8.30 pm to 00.30am (approx). Warwick SPACE is on the north side of the main road north of the river between Leamington and Warwick. Next to the Millwright Arms and almost opposite a Sainsbury local. The floor is very nice, the acoustics, great. Parking is plenty around the venue in residential areas but do not park on the pub next door or in Sainsbury’s – people have been known to be fined there! It is a short walk from Warwick railway station. There are several B&B's nearby and hotels etc in Leamington & Warwick.
