Please join WAR for a special skate on Saturday, December 3, to National Harbor. We'll skate across the Woodrow Wilson Bridge -- twice! That's the only bridge in the U.S. that crosses the borders of three jurisdictions (DC, MD, VA). The section in DC is also the shortest segment of Interstate Highway between state lines.
Since parking by the White House is limited and expensive on Saturdays, we'll meet at Potomac Park (Lot A on Ohio Drive, along river under the I-395 bridge). Free parking. The address is 971 Ohio Drive SW.
We'll group up at 11:00 and leave at 11:15.
This will be a combined intermediate and advanced skate. The full route, with return trip, is about 25 miles. Intermediate skaters can cut that in half by taking the Metro back from Crystal City or Alexandria. If you think you might do that, please bring shoes and money or a card for Metro.
We'll also take a few minutes to explore National Harbor and, if needed, have another water stop en route. There will not be a lunch stop during the skate, though, so you may want to bring energy bars or other snacks.
We might have a meal after the skate. Because we'll be parked at Hains Point, instead of downtown, we may want to go somewhere in Crystal City. I'll offer some suggestions, but let's pick a location when we're together.
As always, cyclists are welcome, too.
