What we're about
Free daily meditation sessions at the Washington Buddhist Vihara, one of the first Theravada Buddhist temples established in the United States. We teach meditation from the Theravada tradition, recognized by scholars as the most ancient Buddhist tradition and the first to transcribe the words of the Buddha. Whether you are Buddhist or not, you can learn to practice meditation to find peace and happiness within yourself. We are a diverse community of dhamma(dharma) practitioners with backgrounds in various traditions and cultures. Monks and lay teachers are available for questions, and provide guided meditation sessions on Sundays at 3 pm, followed by tea and informal discussion.
