Cabin Camping near Shenandoah National Park

Getaway for a long rustic weekend near Shenandoah National Park! Centrally located and just 0.2 miles from parking, the PATC "Meadows" Cabin will serve as a base camp where we will have access to several loop trails into Shenandoah National Park and access to the AT allowing plenty of opportunity to explore the area. Fee includes lodging and two evening meals.

According to the PATC Cabins booklet: "Meadows Cabin is a chestnut log cabin built in 1913 by Edgar Meadows. Abutting the SNP, Meadows has excellent access to numerous hiking trails, among which are the Upper Dark Hollow Trail (a spur of the Rose River trail system), and the Doubletop Ridge Trail, laid out by the PATC member Charlie Thomas in the late 1930s. The cabin is spacious with two rooms and a large kitchen downstairs and one large room upstairs. An airtight wood heating stove, in addition to a cook stove, make Meadows a cozy place to stay in cold weather. The open spaces around the cabin give a delightful view of the Doubletop Ridge and the valley below."

The cabin is semi-primitive with electricity and a year-round spring nearby, accommodates 12.

3 single width, double decked bunks on first floor, mattresses for 6 on floor in upstairs room

Level: 9.0 miles. All levels welcome.
