February RPGala Games!

From: user 2.
Sent on: Saturday, February 2, 2008 2:56 AM
Hello everyone! The February RPGala will be on Sunday, February 24th at 12:45 pm. We will be in room A5 again.

February RPGala

You can RSVP by clicking on the above link. Remember to specify the 3 games you would most like to play in. If you are going to play in the D&D campaigns by either John or Mark, please contact me or Aaron ASAP. You will need to discuss the specifics of character creation in advance of the event. This is very important! So here is what we have this month:

Wild Talents/GM-Mike/Type-One Shot (but see below)/Up to 5 players.
I am the Lord your God
Does the power of a god, remove your duty to God? A super-hero story using Wild Talents
It is a warm night in Dakar, Senegal and you are responding to an emergency call from one of your compatriots in the UN Tribunal sanctioned team Ubunye. What could be so important that you could not be contacted through normal channels? What awaits you in Dakar and where will it lead you? Do you have the strength to take on the power of a god? And, if you win what do you do with that power?
Part I of the Decalogue: Ten stories, ten different genres, using ten different roleplaying games;
All based on one divine law?(Steve's note-Mike will be running 10 different games of 10 different genres and systems over the next 10 or so months, all based off the 10 Commandments in some way, ie like the one above. I think this is really cool, very cerebral, and Mike can probably do a heck of a better job explaining it than I can. Everyone should check out at least one of these!)

D&D v3.5/DM-Mark/Type-Campaign/6-8 Players
Characters will begin at 1st level. My mini-campaign will be based on Paizo's Pathfinder series. "Burnt Offerings" is the first module, which begins in the coastal town of Sandpoint. Trade routes are currents of news from abroad with every traveler. And talk of rampaging dragons and amassing armies has everyone on edge. As a distraction, the people of Sandpoint eagerly count the days until a festival that will commemorate the consecration of a new temple. But goblin tracks have been sighted even as an unknown malady strikes Sandpoint. People are left deformed and dangerously insane. The PC's are hired to uncover whatever strange connection may lie between the goblin presence and the mysterious contagion.

D&D v3.5/DM-John/Type-Campaign/3-6 Players
The Realm of Tieragae had been relatively peaceful for the past few centuries. Tales of the heroes who defeated the Chaos Dragon are becoming common knowledge to even the most remote of cultures. Battlefields from the war between technology and magic still scar the earth as barren wastelands. Yet, even as the world continues to heal, the winds of change are beginning to stir... This tale will begin with a group of adventurers that have come to meet the challenge of a King. If they succeed they will be given a special quest of high importance, but is it worth the potential price to be paid? What the adventurers do from there is limited only by the imagination.

D&D v3.5/DM-Eldyn/Type-One Shot/Note: Continuing from last time. If you played in Eldyn?s (Pete?s) game last time you will hopefully rejoin him to complete it. If players from the 1st session are not present, new players may join. Otherwise, it is closed.
Living in the small town of Girgar you don?t see much excitement. You do your work and try to make a living and every few days, as time permits, you meet up with your friends at the local pub for food, drinks, and some local gossip. Recently there were several outsiders at your pub, they called themselves adventurers and had the greatest stories of battling monsters and finding treasures you have ever heard. After their departure you and your friends decided that you?d love such an adventure. But before you can make plans and gather your things you?re fighting for your life and the life of loved ones and have to prevent a great tragedy.

Shadowrun, 4th Ed./GM-Jason/Type-One Shot/Up to 10 Players
The Sitdown
The year 2070 can be a pretty rough place, especially if you live in one of the many ?not-so? desirable sprawls in the forgotten outskirts of the urban metro-jungle. In addition to poverty, unhealthy living conditions, violence in your neighborhood and the authorities routinely kicking in your mother?s front door to harass her on some trumped-up charge, there are also the modern day nuisances, like shoddy wireless/matrix connections in most of the ghettos along with the occasional ghoul infestation of that abandoned apartment building right next door.
You've done your best to simply survive in a pit like this by joining one of the many street gangs that make up the foundation for urban organized crime syndicates. You?ve clawed your way through a wall of metahuman flesh to finally reach the top, and you?re not about to let it all slip away so easily.
Two prominent gangs have each gotten bigger than they were probably meant to be and now are encroaching on each other?s territory. You?ve each tried raids against one another, kidnappings, blackmail and all out executions?but all that?s doing is reducing both your numbers. You finally decide it?s time for a sitdown, as much as you hate the putrid guts of that street scum, and decide to reach a compromise with each other?once and for all.
The Sitdown is a ?one-shot? adventure for up to 10 players. The characters involved have been pre-made and players will be able to browse through them and choose one to play on that day. The setting is the Redmond Barrens sprawl of Seattle / UCAS 2070.

Werewolf: The Forsaken/DM-Christopher/Type-One Shot/Up to 5 players
Hatred. That is what drives you. That is why you left your only family, your pack. It why you dove deep into the wild lands of the Shadow. That is why you made that Pact with a spirit older than Humanity. It is why you will travel to the ends of the earth. With this pure, all consuming hatred nothing can stand in your way. You will have you bloody vengeance. And yes, it will be be glorious.
In this game of Savage Horror, you are a Werewolf pack that was created for one thing: Vengeance. Each of you were wronged by The Eye Eater: a most sinister and sadistic Azlu (Spider Host). She ruined each of your lives, so you joined together to hunt down the this Diabolical monster. Investigation, Diplomacy, and Combat will all be important in this Hunt and all levels of Experience are welcome.

EXALTED, 2nd Ed./GM- Allan/Type- Campaign/room for up to THREE more players
It is the Second Age of Mankind, an Age of Sorrows. While the Dragon-Blooded squabble over who will rule in the Scarlet Empress' absence, threats gather in all directions. Just beyond the edges of the world, the Fair Folk bide their time, waiting for another opportunity to march forth from the formless Wyld to undo shaped reality. Just beneath the skin of the world, the necrotic lords of the Underworld plot to share the gift of Oblivion with all living things. And imprisoned within the infinite body of the Yozi known as Malfeas, the Demon Princes strive to escape their prison to wreak vengeance on the gods and the gods' champions. Meanwhile, in the Celestial City of Yu-Shan, even the greatest of the gods cannot tear their attention away from the seductive Games of Divinity although Creation teeters on the brink of apocalypse. As the Chosen of the Gods, you are Creation's only hope.

Battlestar Galactica/DM-Steve/Type-One Shot/2-4 Players
The Book of Pythia in the Sacred Scroll says that life here began out there. All of this has happened before and will happen again. The Cylons were created by Man. They were created to make life easier on the Twelve Colonies. And then the day came when the Cylons decided to kill their masters. After a long and bloody struggle, an armistice was declared. The Cylons left for another world to call their own. A remote space station was built where Cylon and Human could meet and maintain diplomatic relations. Every year, the Colonials send an officer. The Cylons send no one. No one has seen or heard from the Cylons in over forty years. If today were a normal day, you and your team would cower or scramble for excuses while Vice Admiral Rees chews you a new one over the frakkin' bugs, delays, and cost overruns of Project Griffon. But today is not a normal day. Today is the day the Children of Humanity come home. And for children to truly come into their own, the parents must die.
What will four humans do while their race dies around them? With the apocalypse looking you in the face and the fate of humanity hanging in the balance, do the concepts of right and wrong, good and evil even exist? If these things are surrendered, have you become what you have beheld? All of this has happened before and will happen again...
